Are printed bank statements from Bangkok Bank acceptable for a retirement visa extension in Thailand?

Regarding applying for a year extension on a retirement visa.

With Bangkok Bank you can request 12 months of statements on the mobile banking app which arrives in pdf format to your email address within about 5 minutes.

Has anybody printed these out and used them for applying for your extension ? Are they acceptable to immigration, rather than having to pre order 7 days in advance for the bank issued statements?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the acceptability of using self-printed bank statements from Bangkok Bank's mobile app for applying for a one-year extension of a retirement visa in Thailand. Community members shared mixed experiences: some reported successful usage of printed statements without a bank stamp at various immigration offices, especially in Hua Hin and Nakhon Phanom, while others emphasized the necessity of having stamped statements and an official letter from the bank. There are also comments about varying requirements at different immigration offices, highlighting that it may largely depend on the specific office visited.

Its funny how different immigration offices can have different qualifications even the people in each office can differ. I just renewed for the first time a couple weeks ago. Thought I'd need a whole year bk stmt and the bank said i had to wait 5 days to get it. So i ran over to immigration and they said only need 2 months before retirement visa expires 🙄 so ran back to the bank got the 2 month statement for a 100 baht and the letter of guarantee for another 100 bahts and ran back (legs really tired now)😂 and she says good where's your old passport. Shes like your first time you have to have the new one and the old one if you came into the country and updated your passport... Soooo ran home grabbed it and ran back. Moral of the story wear a good pair of running shoes when going to immigration cause you never know😂

once it took me about 5 days back and forth shit. Didn't like my pictures of the house , bank book didn't match bank statement. Bank statement was not same day . And requested one statement instead of 6 months. I actually had to call the police to file a complaint against agent before I got a supervisor and she approved it on the spot and apologize.

I tried it once but CW wouldn't wear it. They want the proper print out from the bank. I guess in the country renowned for "fakeness" they are well aware PDFs can be edited

Chiang Mai accept a printed copy of the online PDF.

I have to get my one year of paperwork from the bank, do the tellers do it or do you have to go upstairs to the desk? I don’t wanna wait online for the wrong thing and I forget which one I used last time.

Won’t work and most branches of BB takes about a week

it does work at some immigration offices

@Phil ******

No stamp required by Chiang Mai immigration, or by Hua Hin according to others on here.

My oiffice accepted the statements I printed out from my Bangkok banking app. I did not get asked for a letter from the bank or for the statements to be stamped. They accepted that the statements were two days out of date. I did a transaction and updated my pass book on the day and the only thing I got from the bank was a photo copy of it for free. As I was changing from banked money to monthly payments I had to porivide my UK bank statements to verify source of transfers. The io took a long time checking money out and money in then said yes we give extension! My bank book also showed all the monthly transfers. As people have said, it could be very different at your office. Mine is Nakhon Phanom.

I told immigration at they only up to 6months on demand

Yes. That’s exactly what I did last week when I renewed my O-A visa in Hua Hin. Just took the bank letter (Bangkok Bank) and the statements I printed myself and that was fine. I didn’t get statements stamped by the bank.

thanks for th response, it will be HH I use . Was just asking if someone had personal experience of doing so .

I'm aware I will require the stamped bank letter , was curious about the statements though 👍

@Mick ******
Same here last year but this year I chickened out and paid for the stamped version. Next year I'll have both versions and try the app version first to see if it's accepted again.

@Mick ******
to be quite honest, the process in Hua Hin was fairly easy and straightforward. I was stressing that it would be an onerous process but it was quite easy.

, maybe it's different in HH , but I've found them helpful everytime, switching to the 65k this year.

The banks not so much , but I have witnessed many farang in the banks raising their voices because they are not understood 😅....this has a bad effect on all of us I think.

You have to be very careful using the Bangkok Bank app to generate statements that it covers the required period even assuming your immigration office will accept them. The bank statements need to cover from the date you got your current extension up until when you apply for the next extension, but the 12 month statement from the app only covers the current month and the previous 11 months so if you were to request one today it would only go back to the 1st of April. Given that I'd just cut to the chase and go and request from your bank, they usually request longer than 12 months to cover this
Kool *******
Umm, unless something has changed with the Bangkok Bank app you can only get the last three months of statements, not 12 months. If you could get 12 months from the app immigration doesn't accept them. You also need the letter from the bank stating the account is yours.
Phil *******
@Kool ******
yes you can get 12 months, and Chiang Mai immigration does accept it.

@Phil ******
Have you tried recently? No.

I had all year sent to me via app on 20th December.

Now I can’t do more than 6 months.

Went to the branch and even they couldn’t. Had to wait a week to get last years statement for the revenue department.
Phil *******
@Robert *******
Have i tried recently. YES. 04.02.2025.
Robert ********
@Phil ******
That’s sensational.

The branch in BigC buriram couldn’t do it. The lady showed me exactly 6 months to the day and said a he can’t do more than that, she needs to order it.
Farang *********
How is that possible if the statements can take over a month to get to Thailand from the UK

read and understand my friend.. 🙄😉
Farang *********
@Martyn **********
I did but the the rules I have read require proof of earnings. My understanding was copies of statements but now I am bring told letters and stamps. May be this here applies to BB but surely they will require that for all statements.

But what I find is that people sometimes do not understand, a lot of the replies are confusing, and they ask questions but come up against people like you who give stupid answers and it puts them off.

There are no stupid questions as it shows a desire to learn. But there are stupid answers.
Lynnette *******
@Farang ********
it's not earnings in UK. He's got retirement extension with the required lump sum in Bangkok bank so needs the bank statement, as it says in his post.
Jay ***********
Need the bank stamp
Phil *******
@Jay **********
not at every immigration office
Charlie ***********
I printed the statement from my mobile when they send to you by email you must enter your date of birth as the password but you still need a paper from the bank
Wayne ********
At my Immigration office in Phichit all I needed was my bank book and the letter from the bank.
Christopher ***********
@Wayne *******
Same here, until my last extension. They now insist upon a bank statement.
Wylie *******
It'd be way to easy to modify it, which is why it needs to be verified with a stamp by the bank. I doubt they'd stamp it if they didn't print it.
Mark *********
You need the bank statements stamped and the letter from the bank attached to the statements
Brandon ************
The only even possible way that could work is if you take into a bank branch after you print it and they stamp it. If they'll even do that.

The only guaranteed way is requesting it from them directly along with the bank letter.
Phil *******
@Brandon ***********
Chiang Mai immigration accept the printed copy of the PDF from app without a bank stamp.
