TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, it is not necessary for the 400,000 THB to be transferred from abroad; funds transferred within Thailand are acceptable. However, the amount must be in your account for at least two months before applying for the renewal. It is important to ensure you have the required amount in your account throughout the application process to avoid complications.

1. Are you female or male?

2. If you are male, can you show your extension of stay stamp showing you got a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a thai national?

I thought the money needed to be in for 2 months only for the FIRST year, BUT each subsequent year it must be in for 3 months.

Can someone confirm or deny this?

I have seen so many posts explaining immigration might ask for updated book when you get your stamp after the 30 consideration. So what you say is that is not correct? I just had my stamp after the consideration periode and they did not ask me either but just to be safe I did have above 400.000K at the day I got the stamp ๐Ÿ™

It's not every immigration office that wants to see your bank book updated on the date you go back to get the extension from an under consideration stamp
@Tob***
. Only some do it, and if you're at an office that does it the immigration officer will tell you when you apply for the extension and get the 30 day under consideration stamp to update your bank book and make a copy when you come back.

3 months are for retirement. For marriage two months before application and wait until getting extension stamp. (which makes it de facto 3 months, but for retirement - 4)

@Krzysztof ********
that is not correct either..

The rules governing seasoning of funds for either a retirement or a marriage extension were changed and both require the money in the bank two months before you apply for the extension, it doesn't matter if it's your first or your 15th yearly extension it's two months seasoning before you apply for the extension

@Tod ********
thank you sir. And for clarifying that the method changed. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Great, thanks!

So after receiving the extension stamp, can 400,000 baht be used until the next application in 10 months? Thank you for advice.
Tobias ****************
So it's actually 3 month they should be hold in account!

@Brendan ******
it can :-)

But wait until you have the full stamp while you are ' under consideration' because at CW they want to see the updated book again with the 400k when you return.

Thanks for the replies.

It doesn't matter how money are deposited on the account, just remember that they must stay there for two months before application and until receiving extension stamp

And get a up date

Of your bank book the day you go back for you extension based on marriage.

@Tobias ***************
Yes, but it's very important to properly count when it should be deposited before application. After application it depends which date officer will give you, one time I was waiting 1,5 months.
Tobias ****************
According to admin you don't need the funds after you got the first stamp and are under consideration? If its correct I don't know, but I had the 400.000 both 2 month before and 1 month after just to be on the safe side ๐Ÿค

@Tobias ***************
yes two months before and approx one month after if Under Consideration stamp is placed in your passport by immigration.
James ********
You have to have 400,000 Thai baht in your bank account TWO MONTHS BEFORE renewal date. Does not have to be transferred into. Just top it up to 400,000.

Renewal money doesn't need to come from abroad unless you use the monthly method
