It is cheaper than 30 day visaexcempt + 30 day extension,

You don’t need a onward ticket in the 30 day visa excempt,

Then you don’t have to use holiday time to travel to a immigration office, waitingtime, but can apply from the comfort of your home.

You can get 30 days visa exemption on arrival and extend it for another 30 days in Thailand. SETV is cheaper than getting an extension in Thailand though.

A single entry tourist visa is an option. Coming with no visa is another and you’d get 30 days, you can get an extension at a local immigration office to cover the 7 days for 1,900 baht, but you may have issues with your airline for not having a ticket out of Thailand within the initial allowed number of days. Some will ask. Some don’t care.

The tourist visa is the cheaper option over an extension, but either could work for your timeframe.

You can get 30 days Visa Exempt entry when you arrive and extend that for another 30 days for a cost of 1900 baht BUT the airline might insist on seeing a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days when you check-in.

Personally, I’d get the Tourist Visa before travelling which gives you 60 days, especially if you live near the Embassy or a Consulate.
