Hi All - I'm looking for advise/help please.

I'm an Australian citizen with a current Australian passport and financially self sufficient. Have travelled to Thailand many times extending my 30 day VOA by an additional 30 days for a total 60 day stay - always done at the Phuket or Pattaya Thai immigration offices.

For my upcoming trip I plan on staying 84 days total. Is there a visa available to total 90 days?

Or do have to do a "visa run" after 60 days?

I have had no info success on the nett and both the Thai Consulates in Sydney and Canberra don't answer their phones.

Any constructive help/direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian citizen can stay in Thailand for a total of 90 days by applying for a tourist visa, which grants a 60-day stay upon entry and allows for a single 30-day extension. The user mentioned they had been extending their 30-day visa exemption but were unclear about their options for a longer stay without a visa run.

hi Sonny more than happy to share the info I have so far

First of all you've never received visa on arrival. That's where you apply for and pay for a visa at the airport and it's only for 15 days.

You traveled without a visa and received visa exempt which is for 30 days.

Just apply for a tourist visa and then you'll get 60 days on arrival and you can extend one time for 30 days. That's 90 days total.

hi Brandon yes, of course, fully agree on your explanation of the initial first 30 days - was using that description loosely.

Thanks for your heads up on the rest.

I'm guessing yes here from your reply - apply on Line (Canberra Consulate - I'm in Qld) for the tourist visa which will allow me, on approval, 60 days on arrival and then, while in Thailand apply for the one time extension of 30 days?

Thanks again Brandon, appreciated.

one final question.

After I arrive in Thailand I will apply for the extra 30 days (to make the total 90 days) - is their a timeline restriction/requirement within which I need to apply for that extra 30 days?

Say within the first 30 days after arrival?

Or 45 days etc?

depends on the immigration office you'll be using. Most allow you to apply when you have 30 days or less left on your stamp. Some allow 45 days or less (Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai) and some only let you apply during your last week (Jomtien, Samui, Koh Phangnan)
