I have 40 days in Thailand in August. I bought the air ticket when the tourist visa was for 45 days for Australian tourists. That of course has gone back to 30 days. What is the best way to get an extension on the 30 day tourist visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their 30-day tourist visa for a 40-day stay in Thailand, highlighting the confusion between visa types. The responses indicate that the standard tourist visa for Australians is 60 days, with the possibility of a 30-day extension at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 THB. Some comments emphasize that travelers should verify airline policies regarding exit tickets when traveling without a visa and suggest obtaining a 60-day visa before departure as a more hassle-free option.

There has never been a 45 day tourist visa for Australians it's always been 60 day tourist visa you apply for before coming to Thailand or 30 day visa exemption which is only a stamp in your passport its not a 30 visa the 45 days visa exempt ended 31st of march 2023 and why you would plan 40 day stay when the 45 days visa exempt was never going to be extended past 31st of march you have 3 options get 60 day paid visa prior to your departure at thia consulate or embassy or 30 day extension 1900baht thia immigration in thailand or overstay 10 days and pay the fine 500baht per day overstay and you will be flagged in your passport and in thai system as overstay not a good option as thai girls say upto you Chokh di

As already mentioned, you can get 30day extension here. However , it may save you time and money to get 60day tourist visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Australia.

Tourist visa is 60 days, it was never 30 or 45 days. You're talking about visa exempt which means no visa at all.

Go to your local immigration office when you're here and apply for 30 day extension.

You should also contact your airline and ask them what their policy is for people who travel to Thailand with no visa. Some airlines will require you to show a ticket that you are leaving Thailand within 30 days since you travel without visa.
