TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to stay in Thailand for 6-9 months without a visa. Comments suggest that if arriving on a visa-exempt status, the user would initially receive a 30-day stamp, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at the immigration office for a fee. Other suggested visa options include seeking a retirement visa (if over 50), or considering volunteer or education visas for longer stays. Additionally, there is a note about the need for valid exemption to leave Australia.

you can get a short term visa and can now renew twice which would give you 9 months

nah the requirements for that visa are about 40 pages long endless beaurocratic filth, including 90 days pre-booked hotel for each visa meaning you can't move around etc. I've ruled out that option but thankyou

Depends on age. If over 50 you can get a “retirement” visa and extension. If not you’d be looking at a volunteer visa or education visa. To tide you over.

Under 50, what kind of costs am I looking at for an education visa? I dont have the energy to volunteer, got many health issues.

it depends on the education establishment you use. My guess is around 35k baht, but it’s purely a guess.

usually it’s in 3 or 6 month parts. Sorry I’m not familiar with the actual process of obtaining that type of visa.

and how are you planning to stay 6-9 months with no visa?

If you come in visa exempt you'll get stamped in for 30 days and you can extend that once by 30 more at the immigration office for 1900baht.

I suggest you use that 60 days you have here to look around for another visa option (ED, Volunteer, etc)
