Hi Everyone,
I am seeking advice as my father is living in Thailand and his visa has expired.
He is 73 years old Australian citizen and married to a Thai national. he has been living there for 5 years.
He has a O Visa which expired on March 23rd, and got a 2 month extension which expired on May 22. He is now there under the amnesty. He has been getting his visas from a border run to Laos.
We don't want to have to fly him home to Australia because it is very expensive and he is old and health isn't fantastic. To get him home and back into Thailand will cost us $10-$20k, we cannot afford this.
Does anyone have any advice on what we can do? He doesn't have enough money in his bank account to apply for a marriage or retirement visa. We will apply for this once he can get his O Visa renewed.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking advice for their father, a 73-year-old Australian citizen currently living in Thailand on an expired O Visa. He has been in Thailand for 5 years and is married to a Thai national. There are concerns about costs associated with flying him back to Australia and the inability to apply for a marriage or retirement visa due to insufficient funds in his bank account. The comments suggest limited options are available without funds for extending his stay.
