Hello - I’m in Chiang Mai on an education visa since almost a year (following three extensions x90 days at the Chiang Mai immigration office). My last extension expires on July 28 and as it’s been one year, I understand I cannot do another extension, but need to leave the country. As I would like to stay longer, I’m hoping that the current visa amnesty will be extended after July 31, or that borders with neighbouring countries will open up so I can do a border run. I wanted to ask if anyone would see an alternative option or possibility for me to stay in the country? Or if the only thing I can do for now is wait and see? Many thanks in advance for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an education visa in Chiang Mai, which is expiring soon after a year of extensions. They are seeking advice on alternative options to stay in Thailand longer, given the challenges with border runs and current visa amnesty status.
One other option is to get an ED visa based on being a full time student in a university degree program (i.e. Bachelor or Master). Another option is to get a 5 year elite visa for 500K THB.
