This is a question about Non-B & Non-O 1 year visa.
My husband and I have a Non-B & Non-O visa (we are both Americans) and our 3 month non-B/O visa expires this month. We were supposed to go out to Malaysia to get our 1 year non-B/O this month, but obviously now, can't go anymore with the lockdown.
Does anyone have any information about what's happening with the non-b & o visa for people who were supposed to be able to get the 1 year visa during this time? I'm wondering if we will be able to get the 1 year visa when we are allowed to make the visa runs again, or if they will make us start over and get the 3 month visa again?
We've been working with a lawyer, but she says she doesn't have any information and that we just need to wait and see until end of July.
We would like to get the visa taken care of within July if at all possible and wondering if anyone has any information on how to go about it. Thanks for your help.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges faced by an American couple in obtaining their 1-Year Non-B and Non-O visa due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. They are currently on a 3-month visa that is about to expire and are unsure if they can still apply for the one-year visa or if they will need to start over with another 3-month visa after the travel ban is lifted. Community members provided insights about the visa amnesty period until July 31, the current status of border openings in Southeast Asia, and the importance of applying for extensions before the current visa expires.
