Where is a good place to do a visa run from southern thailand and what is the process please? I’ve heard of Vietnam and Singapore. Or is there somewhere closer?

We have tourist visas and have done the first 30 day extension.

Do we then get another 30 day when we Re-enter?

Thanks everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Looking for effective options for visa runs from southern Thailand, travelers have several choices including Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia, with suggestions for specific locations like Penang and KL for visa extensions. The process typically involves crossing a border or heading to a neighboring country, where individuals can obtain a new entry stamp. Returning to Thailand generally allows for an additional 30 days or a possible 60-day tourist visa, which can sometimes be extended.

So make an adventure and explore. There are a lot better places than the three Islands full of tourists

if you ONLY want leave and return on a free 30 day visa exempt entry head to Ranong and enter Burma>

IF you want leave and come back on a 60 day tourist visa head to Penang, KL, Singapore Or Phnom Penh Cambodia ( R/T apx $200)

getting a visa entails a few days stay

ok great thanks. Is the 60 day visa able to be extended or do you need to leave again?

It's a new entry stamp so you are entitled to one 30 day extension

not sure of the difference sorry. We had a tourist visa that we renewed 30 days and need to leave to get a new one. What is that called?

So you're going to an embassy in a neighbouring country to apply for a 60-day visa. That's a visa run.

ah ok. Do you know how long it takes to do that? Do we need to stay a few days?

Depends on where you're going. Different embassies and consulates have different policies. Best to check the embassy websites to see what they offer

You can do a border bounce via air or land….officially there is no limit oh the amount of Air Ins one can do, however eventually you will be questioned by an overzealous immigration officer…land border crossings you get 2 per calendar year…Vietnam depending on the passport you hold you may have to buy a visa, Singapore is nice low cost airlines go to all
