How can I extend my tourist visa while in Thailand, and what are the best countries for visa runs?

Hello,

I'm an Italian citizen currenlty in Thailand with a tourist visa. I'm planning a visa run to Singapore to get another tourist visa (for at least 2 more months). Does anyone have any experience with the Thai Embassy in Singapore? I only have 3 days to spend there, I'm wondering how long does the process take.

Also, if not Singapore, which countries do you recommend to do visa runs by air?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Italian citizen in Thailand on a tourist visa seeks advice on extending their stay through a visa run to Singapore. The conversation reveals that the Thai Embassy in Singapore requires online submissions for visa applications and may not be feasible within a short timeframe. Suggestions include extending the current visa at local immigration offices in Thailand or considering other countries for visa runs, such as Malaysia, Laos, or Vietnam, each with varying processes and timescales.

Many many years ago I did visas both in Singapore & Penang. In both cases, as is usual with all Embassies/Consulates. Apply with correct paperwork and payment in the morning and get visa next day afternoon.

I can share - this. They will ask for full 60 days accommodation fully paid and an outward ticket before 60 days are up.

My visa took around 2 weeks.

Singapore only does online and it could be more than 3 days... Try Ho Chi Minh or Vientiane?

Kuala Lumpur but needs online appt..also there is no docs list online to help you prepare ..we got surprised when we went to our appt day to apply for 2 months visa and found out that there are forms to fill up and a list of docs

They won't give you the form at the embassy , only the photo studio when you take the passport photo has them ..but how are you going to get the required docs when your appt is on that day and you only have a few days to stay? So we scrapped the idea left the embassy and just came back on a 30 day exempt and went to the immig to get the 30days and later run to Laos border for another 30 days.no head ache no requirement

Currently the best and fastest is the Thai embassy in Yangon in Myanmar. Apply the first day before noon, and pick up the next day. Contrary to what everyone will try to tell you, it is completely safe.

Yangon is safe, contrary to what all the propaganda rumours think. There is not constant fighting anywhere in Myanmar.

the only money that goes to them is the airport tax. The actual people where you'd spend the bulk of your money on food and hotel goes to the people that really need it directly. It is much more humanitarian to go there and spend money with the local people. You trade dollars for kyat at the underground money changers, not the government.

It would have been easier just to go the Thai Embassy website in Singapore and find the information you need.

I would reccomend Kuala Lumpur, whe I applied for a further tourist visa a few years ago the process was very easy, but remember you do not get the visa until 9am following the day you apply.

Depending on your current location, I have seen tourist travellers crossing, and walking to Laos to get their visas to return to Thailand. My self personally I got an extension for another 30 days at the local immigration office of your current location. Must have the hotel's reservations and other documents.

If you go to Singapore, and return, you will get a 30 days exemption. A few days before you go to Thai Imigration, and they will give you a 30 days ekstension.

You cannot just go to the Thai embassy in Singapore and apply for a visa. They have an online system and you must submit everything online to them and then they will approve and let you know when you can come and submit the documents in person along with your passport to receive the visa.

Of course all of this is on their website, which is the first place you need to check for any embassy you want to go to. All their requirements are right there.
