Current prices for February phuket to KL 1,175B one way. So it's probably the best way as it's visa free entry for most countries.

Does it make sense to make a border run then? I think you're maybe allowed to stay 90 days within 180 days so it means a border run will only give you 15 days more? Just asking, I wanted to do the same in january. I don't think you'll get another 45+30 days? 🤔

the 15 day entry via land borders stopped in 2016. You’ll get 45+30 days the same as by air. Only difference is that there’s a limit of two exempt entries via land per calendar year.

If the Ranong land border opens by then that’s a fairly handy border bounce - 4 hours each way and an hour and half boat ride to Myanmar and back. Failing that it’s the Malaysian land borders that are closest. That involves a 6 hours or so trip each way, so you may prefer to take a hour or so flight to KL or Penang or Singapore and immediately return.
