TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-O Marriage Visa allows for multiple entries into Thailand for a year without requiring reentry permits or financial proof. This visa grants a 90-day stay each time you enter Thailand, with the requirement to exit the country before the expiration of the 90 days to obtain a new entry stamp. While a single-entry 90-day visa is also available, it involves more bureaucratic steps for extensions. Frequent travelers with a Thai spouse are advised to pursue the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa for ease of travel.

Yes the Non Imm. O Marriage Visa - Multi Entry is a snap at the Royal Thai Consulate in Savannakhet... Allows in and out travel for a year - No Reentry Permit needed and no 90 day reports. Plus no Financials to get it... Just Marriage docs., ID, etc.

The solution I offered out gets you the visa that gives you the freedom to travel and when you enter thailand you get stamped in for 90 days each entry for a year from the date the visa is issued. Savannakhet Lao is not a long way from bangkok ;) and it only takes about a day and a half to get that visa issued (turn in your paperwork one morning, pick up the passport with the visa the next afternoon).

Just read this post as recent as MArch, do you know if this has impacted on document requirements for non immigran O spouse?

This is an update as I just came back from Savanakhet. (March 2017)

As of Jan 27th 2017, all tourist visa applicant must show a bank statement of having at least 20,000 THB in your account (or 40,000 if travel with family). It seems like this change had a big impact on the amount of people who apply for tourist visa as when I visit the Thai consulate, there were only 20-25 people applying for visa (I was one of the few applying for tourist visa). The shops opposite to the consulate, who help in making copies and so, told me that since the new regulation, the number of applicants dropped dramatically.

No one except authorized people or companies can drive across the Mukdahan Bridge into Laos, example bus, goods shipping companies ... There is safe inexpensive parking to be found on the Thai side - if you look closely ...

David, I don't think you're gonna get one but you could try. I was offering out where i know you can get the visa for sure. You'd hafta look at the thai consulate's website where you're thinkin' of applying to see if they offer it and what the requirements are .

I am working in those other countries lol I dont mind having to show the funds so no issue there.

@Da***
, you can drive to Mukdahan (the city on the thai side of the border) but I don't think you can drive into Lao. Someone will know though. Believe me it's not that bad taking an Air Asia or a Nok Air Fly-n-Ride from Bangkok to the Indochine market in Mukdahan, then crossing the bridge into Lao.

I thought you were complaining that Savannakhet was a long way to go :O ;) :)

The only other consulate in the area that will sell the year long, mulit-entry Non-O based on marriage without showing funds is the thai consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam.

silly question lol it is ok to drive there to do it? Also is it possible to do from another consulate such as in Hong Kong, or Beijing or other Chineese cities? :-)

David, I would say, forget the single entry 90 day Non-O from them and the year extension here in the country :/ It's way more hoop jumping than you wanna do, PLUS seeing as extensions based on marriage go under consideration for 30 days before you go back to get the stamp inked into your passport you are gonna be really pressed for time.

Fly in here on a 30 day visa exempt entry, and then go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage. It's the easiest thai consulate to pull that visa from in S/E Asia and you need no proof of funds. It's the visa you want given your work history

You said you're here 4 weeks and that's NOT enough time to get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa AND then apply for a yearly extension of stay because extensions based on marriage go under consideration for 30 days before you go back and get it inked into your passport.

Cheeers, that is what I was looking to do until I spoke to UK consulate today lol they told me to get the 90 day then apply in LOS. WIll revert to plan A.

If you don't have ANY visa or extension now, and you travel a LOT the best one if you're married to a thai is the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa that you get at a thai consulate outside of thailand.

That visa is good for a year from the date it's issued, you can enter/exit all you want for the year and every time you enter you get stamped in for 90 days
**
You can continue to travel from a third country visa visa return, at least a lot of people do so

Thnks. That was what I was going to do, I called UK consulate just now and they said do a 90 day as they often do not grant a one year :-( they said then apply for the one year once there. I have to go to tai embassy in two weeks to renew partners thai passport so will speak with them to confirm. Think I will be ok, just want to make sure I do things right :-) I wont be in Thailand longer than 4 weeks at any one time for at least 4 years due to work. Just need to sort out banks in Hong Kong and Thailand and will be fine lol

the only down side is you can't stay in thailand longer than 90 days before you have to stamp outta the country, stamp in&out of another country and stamp back into thailand to get another 90 day stamp.

I think I will get 90 day then change once in Thailand

is that the pne you buy at airport when leaving?

once you get a Non-O visa and then a yearly extension based on either marriage or being over 50 (retirement) you can buy a multiple re-entry permit and it lets you come and go all you want for the validity of the extension.
