I’m married to a Thai woman. We live together outside Thailand but spend 3-4 months per year in Thailand. I have always entered in 30 day exemptions or a tourist visa. Is it possible to get a multiple entry residence visa on the basis of marriage? If so what do I need to do?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are married to a Thai woman and spending a significant amount of time in Thailand, you can apply for a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant O Visa based on your marriage. This type of visa allows for 90-day stays each time you enter Thailand and can be extended with a subsequent application. However, to extend your stay in Thailand beyond that, you must meet specific financial criteria, including maintaining a balance of 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months. This visa provides a path towards longer stays and can be a reliable alternative to tourist visas.

Residence is something you cannot have, not easily anyway.

Your option is the same as I have, Non O Multiple entry's.

Valid for a year and give you 90 day stay each borderpassage.

If you plan to stay in Thailand you can also in Thailand apply for a one year extension of your stay permit you get when arriving. After that you only need to do 90days report to the immigrationoffice in your district.

With the extension of stay you can buy multiple reentry if you need to travel.

There is a requirement for the extension, 400 000 bath in a Thai bank account for at least two month the first time.

With the extension you never need to apply for a VISA again. That's close to residency.

I agree with the Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with a Thai National, this visa gives you 90 days of stay and can be extended once with 60 days with reason to visit your wife. Yoy can find the requirements at the website of the Thai Embassy or Consulate there where you live.
