TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, a retirement visa can allow for multiple entries and reentries into Thailand, but the specifics depend on the type of visa. There are different classifications, such as the Non-O and Non-OA visas designed for retirees, which can be single or multiple entry. Depending on which visa you hold, you may need to purchase a re-entry permit, costing about 1,000 THB for a single entry and 3,800 THB for multiple entries. It's also noted that the multiple re-entry permits allow unlimited entries, as long as they are purchased accordingly.

It can't get any simpler than how it's presented. It is what it is. Thanks

The Non Imm OA visa is multiple entry(as many entries as you like). You need to buy a multi or single re-entry permit if you're on an extention of stay, again as many entries as you like if you buy the multi.

It’s not important with multiple entry how much times you come in or out. Costs 5700 baht
ok but I’m at a loss as to why anyone would ever want to buy them together….even if they did it would only be 4,800

I have only had one retirement extension (back working again) but I bought the multi re-entry when I got the retirement extension as I traveled out quite a bit.

A single re entry permit is 1,000 baht. A multiple reentry permit is 3,800 baht at your local immigration office. At the airport they add a 200 baht admin fee if you don’t have prepared paperwork and photos.

>Does a retirement visa
There is no such thing as a retirement visa. There are five different things that are classified as a "retirement visa"
1. A single entry Non-O visa based on being over 50. This visa allows you enter Thailand once, for 90 days, and is good for 90 days.
2. A single entry Non-OA visa based on being over 50 (sold at a select few consulates) . This visa allows a person to enter Thailand once, and on entry can stay for one year.
3. A multiple entry Non-O visa based on being over 50 (NOT being sold right now). This visa is good for one year, allows a person to enter multiple times, and on each entry can stay for 90 days.
4. A multiple entry Non-OA visa based on being over 50 (for passport holders of most western countries). This visa is good for one year, allows a person to enter multiple times, and on each entry can stay for one year.
5. A multiple entry non-OX visa based on being over 50 (for passport holders of a select few countries). This visa is good for 10 years, allows a person to enter multiple times, and on each entry can stay for 5 years.
When there's 45 days (30 days at some immigration offices) remaining on the existing stamp, a person can go to an immigration office and purchase a one year extension of stay based on being over 50. This is a "zero entry" stamp, and when leaving Thailand the stamp will be voided. This stamp can be kept alive by purchasing either a single entry re-entry permit for 1,000 THB, or a multiple entry re-entry permit for 3,800 THB at any immigration office.
??? I have a retirement visa which is none of those. It clearly states retirement in my passport. The rules are very similar to OA but it is awarded within Thailand.
This is a multiple entry Non-O visa (in this case it's for marriage, but a retirement visa would look similar. If it's a Non-OA, the visa category would be "Non-OA", if it was a Non-OX, the visa category would be "Non-OX". If it was a single entry visa, it would say "single" instead of "multiple")

This is a re-entry permit
