I have noticed on my computer ads for a 5-year. visa for 30,000 Baht. As with the rules, I will not mention the company. I have just re-newed my ret. visa so I asked them to clarify their position. They just sent me an overview without any hard facts. Any news about this, please?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 5-year DTV visa being advertised for 30,000 Baht has raised concerns among the community, with several users warning that this may not be a legitimate offer. Users suggest that the actual cost is likely higher (between 100,000 to 125,000 Baht) if done through an agent and that this visa requires compliance with stringent conditions, such as leaving Thailand every 180 days. Many recommend sticking with a retirement visa instead, as it provides a more stable option for long-term residency.

Thank you guys for clarifying the DTV.

The 5 years DTV is 100-125k baht with agent (if you don't have the proof of 500k for months in your account). It's the current on-going cost with most agent using their contact in Vietnam. 30k would be a scam, yes.

I think it's better for you just to continue with the retirement visa, the DTV also has a ฿500k financial requirement, and you would need to pay for a soft power course, such as muay Thai or cooking classes, and every 180 days you would need to leave the country, or do an 180 day extension which is not easy to do, and can only do it once, I personally don't think the DTV is worth the hassle if you can do the retirement visa, the DTV is apparently becoming more and more under scrutiny.

It's the DTV. It actually costs 10,000 baht if you do it yourself. And while it's valid for 5 years, you can't just stay in Thailand like you would with a retirement visa. You'd pretty much need to leave every 180 days and then come back for a new 180 day stamp. There's also no guarantee that in the future they won't start asking you for proof that you're still doing what you initially said you were doing to qualify for the visa. Many embassies have started tightening up the requirements and immigration might start too at some point.

The retirement visa/extensions will give you a much more secure ability to stay in Thailand.

Thanks for this ---I thought it sounded too good to be true! May I ask another question? I have a 14 year old boy (with a translated Birth cert.) I am estranged from him and his mother. Is there a type of visa that I can use? I do not have the ridiculous amount of 800,000Baht in an account.

@James *****
. Not sure where you are from. I do not believe that 800,000 thb is a rediculous amount. If you do not have the funds to be able to place that amount in the bank then I wonder how you expect to live in Thailand. Perhaps you may be better remaining in your home counrty.

@Paul ******
some retired people have a good pension coming in, that is more than enough to live a comfortable life in Thailand, and many also have savings, but it is in investments, and giving them a decent return, so they don't have the ฿800k to sit in a Thai bank earning virtually zero interest. 🤷🙆🤦

Vetically interest?

@Paul ******
I have edited my comment just for you, so you can understand it, obviously it should have said "virtually" but it actually said "vertically" not "vetically" at least get it right, if you are going to pull someone up 🤷😂😂😉

An awful lot of people cannot afford the 800, 000 K. A British State pension does not cover it. The UK pension is also frozen. I am 76 my pension pays out at the rate I received when I reached 65. This is in Thailand.

yes I do understand unlike some people.

I have lived here for 16 yrs or more. Amounts of money are relevant to your personal position. How can you be a 'top contributor' with your stupid take on things? You say that 800,000 Baht is not a ridiculous amount of money ---well then LEND ME THAT AMOUNT or STFU Did you read my post? perhaps you did and you are just a little retarded and couldn't fathom that I live in Thailand Do not reply to this, I dislike idiots.

Agreed. Especially idiots who love to flaunt their pale imitation of awareness.

If you are 50 or older contact some agencies and they will help you obtain a non O retirement visa (technically an extension of stay). For some of us that’s the only option.

Oh, maybe I misunderstood your question. If you’re willing please PM me the name of the agency you’ve been using. I need to obtain my first non O retirement visa”retirement visa” soon and have been researching a lot.
