TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa incurs a one-time application fee of 10,000 baht for a five-year duration. Travelers must exit Thailand after 180 days unless they apply for an extension, which costs 1,900 THB for another 180 days, although the exact requirements for this extension are currently unclear.
Oh so do you need to have 500,000 every time you come in ?

It hasn't been 6 months yet so know one really knows what immigration will require, but by the looks of it and standard prodcedure, you will probably need supporting docs. (Evidence of Signing up for a new Muay thai course for example and also i'm guessing they will ask for tax information also) Apparently Immigration arent fond of these visas atoll- they've caused them to lose alot of money. Many people who used to Sign up for ED-Visas (Immigration got 5k every 3 months) (2k baht vs 10k baht per person), now have moved over DTV........I don't think immigration offices will make it so easy to extend DTV. Just my opinion.......
why would immigration need your tax details. It's a different government agency. And again "apparently" they are not keen on these is another assumption of yours.
Best to see what happens when the first person reports what happens when they extend

The 10k is the one time application fee for the 5 year visa. You need to exit the Kingdom after 180 days OR apply for a one off extension of another 180 days at your local immigration office. The requirements for and the cost of this in country extension are currently unknown.
correct. To apply for extension at the immigration office you need to provide evidence about the reason you have the DTV, if you exit and return you don’t need to.

David Fulton there's no factual data about the requirements for the 180 day extension of stay.
these are guesses, but they're not without basis. There are other visas which cost 1,900 baht to renew. When you renew them, you're required to show you've maintained most of the requirements for initially getting the visa.
To extend an ED visa, you must still be taking the class. To extend a non-O, you must still meet the financial requirements.
in the YouTube video I posted above it talks about all of that. It will be 1900 to extend and need to show evidence

David Fulton frankly I doubt the requirements for evidence of continuing reason for the DTV extension. AND a simple LAND BORDER BOUNCE will get a NEW 180 day STAMP..no questions.
Bro, thanks for pointing this out. Very acute eye. I don’t think anyone else has even caught it and it does totally change the game. Because if someone’s coming on a 6 month muay thai course, they better not go to immigration after 6 months. And over time, I bet the visa stamp people will ask for proof as well.
yeah very true , sorry for being blunt, it’s annoying how so many people just make up stuff here 😂
Hopefully over time they don’t ask for evidence at immigration. If they do just sigh up for more classes, medical treatment or cooking classes before you go.
I would go into it assuming they will if he says it until proven otherwise. So anyone on a muay thai, medical etc. I would plan to not be accepted back in once the treatment finishes, personally. Or expect in 12-24 months they start rejecting people at the airport without clear proof. People with work contracts would therefore be more fine.
And a lot of people do just guess and post for fun. Look at the comment above saying ‘who knows what the fee will be’. When it’s clearly been said it will be 1900 baht.
I said nobody knows because nothing official has come out of the Immigration department regarding the requirements for or the cost of a in country extension. You are relying on a YouTube video from a guy from the MFA. They are responsible for the Thai embassies abroad. Then have no influence and very poor communication with the Immigration dept which deals with Immigration law inside Thailand. I would not claim truth based on a statement from the MFA. Only an official announcement from the Immigration department holds water. And as mentioned, to date, there is only silence from. So nobody knows....
