TLDR : Answer Summary
A new member inquires about the reopening status of Thailand for tourists, specifically for a visitor from the Philippines. Several comments confirm that Thailand is currently closed to general tourism, with varying opinions about the language used in the responses. One comment mentions a possible plan for bubble areas for tourists, requiring quarantine and testing. There are suggestions that Thailand may reopen around October, but no exact dates were confirmed.
I just read something sent by a friend that is in the Thai news. They are now working on a plan, at least for some tourists, to have bubble areas within Thailand. They are proposing several select areas where tourists can stay quarantined for 14 days while visiting the sites within the areas but not leaving for other areas. They were talking about a requirement of a specific type of covid testing just shortly before arrival which must be negative and then an additional test at the end of the 14 days to be able to go to other areas in Thailand. This apparently has not been passed yet but is moving through the chain of consideration.
, we disagree on this but again, you guys do an amazing job here - and please accept my apologies for not realising it was you that set up this group, not Tod. I don't know why but I just assumed it was Tod's. Have a great Sunday folks :)

Personally, I find most of the replies to questions asked pathetic, extremely rude and so totally unnecessary π³ Theres some really arrogant and ignorant folk out there !!

There are a lot of people in this group whose first language is not English; if we start to use abbreviations because we are too lazy to write the correct word then a lot of them simply will not understand what is written. That would be a shame. When so many try so hard to write in English I think those of us who were brought up with it should use it correctly. I agree with Garrett and to be honest I dont understand some if it either. SMH, SMD mean nothing to me.
All this from someone asking a simple question? It only deserves a simple answer. Sounds like a bunch of childish nit picking to me. I dont care how someone writes something, if i can read it.. im will, if i can't.. I'll ask.
The days of proper grammer and spelling have gone by. Too much drama in this world already.

To be clear, I have the utmost respect for the work
and the other admins do in this group but I think his comment was inappropriate - and absolutely not meant in jest!
In defence of cos, cuz, wtf, tbh, smh and all the other abbreviations, I use them too. This is NOT the office folks, It's a Facebook group for God's sake. I take my work seriously and pay attention to what I say and write but when I'm at home and on FB, I might have a beer in one hand and be munching on spag bol (is that allowed?) with the other.
So yep, I'm gonna continue using annoying abbrevs and if you don't like it, smd :)
"wtf, tbh, smh" are abbreviations. Cuz isn't an abbreviation, it's a lazy and annoying way of writing because and I can't stand for it. This is a group with a lot of information in it, and a LOT of people who put in A LOT of time answering questions and helping others for absolutely no other reason than they want to help.
If you don't have enough respect for everyone in this group who takes the time out of their day to sit down and write an intelligent and respectful answers to put together a simple two sentence questions like an adult and write out the word 'because', in stead of "yo I ned sum hlp wit my visa cuz idk," then your question isn't going to get approved. It's not fair to the members in here answering questions, and it turns the group from a semi professional community source of information to a high school message board.
thanks for confirming your comment was not meant in jest as a few people mistakenly thought. I think correcting that woman was heavy-handed (I think she's now left the group) and the idea that people who use abbreviations are showing disrespect for the group is crazy. Best we move on!

No, Thailand is not accepting tourists at this time.
And please, please, "coz" is not an acceptable substitution for "because."

Frankly, neither Garrett's original comment nor my reply were unpleasant. We disagreed over a trivial matter. Things only got unpleasant when a gutless troll turned up - you! So think hard before you accuse others of being bossy etc. You were the cause of this thread turning sour. You are full of bile and every time you comment it poisons this group further

I think y'all have too much time on your hands.

But i see you were quick to reply to the comment that offended you. It seems that all these seemingly helpful groups set up by non thai people, ones that are on long term visas, are all about people being rude to others who have questions that might not suit them. This ironically is polar opposite to the manner in which the thai culture holds itself. Seemed like an unnecessary dig at at a fellow group member. One wonders why you started the group.
I'm offended? Lol. I set up this group because I was sick of asking a visa question and getting 5 different answers plus 10 messages from visa agents offering to solve my problems. Or having a question about how to set up a bank account deleted because it "wasn't close enough to being visa related."
This is a group for adults as I've said many times before. I won't delete people's comments or kick someone from the group because they said something that someone doesn't like. You can disagree with anyone in this group, including the admins, without fear of being kick out unlike a lot of other groups. I don't control this group, I just create a space for everyone to share information.
creating a group where people can't share information or ask questions without being critized is not really the most helpful way to share information. We are in thailand, i have even encountered spelling errors from the thai government, does not render the information useless however.
so you too, perhaps before you were god, have asked questions that weren't considered visa related by others?you would think then that you wouldnt jump to judgement about spelling and grammar .but i Guess not everyone is perfection.but as said before, your group, your rules.
What an incredibly useless comment to someone asking a completely harmless question! Does Garrett go round policing 13 year olds aswell, as to when is the appropriate time to start using because? I am guessing it is completely un acceptable too, should a child slip into 14 and not yet have started following this Ludacris ideal of an obviously bored and lonely adult? π€ππΈ
Offended much? Want to talk about useless comments, at least mine had some useful information in it. Yours is just a selfish, offended, trying to be relevant, comment.
' group actually - and since you mentioned it, if they set up a group to advise on visas should they use it to lecture people on how to write English? No, I didn't think so!
you really need to read all the comments before making a fool of yourself - again - dearie. It's become clear that neither Garrett's comment nor yours were jokes. If you're going to go online and troll at least have the integrity to stand by it!
