I thought the Thai government was supposed to announce Wednesday the next set of people allowed into Thailand. Did I miss something?

I have a flight booked for September 13th but not sure if I’ll be able to come visit my husband who is on a working visa (I haven’t seen him since January)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the uncertainty of travel regulations into Thailand as of late July 2020. There has been no official announcement regarding the next set of people allowed in Thailand, particularly affecting an individual planning to visit their husband on a working visa. Community comments indicate that spousal and family visas are permitted under strict regulations, including quarantine and insurance requirements. Current sentiment suggests that general tourism may remain restricted until a vaccine is widely available. The situation is fluid, with various government departments expected to provide updates on entry processes.

was announced today to get on the official list of 150 expats for August. 3 flights in total 50 on each. repatriation only if you fit the requirements. Vaccine is the only answer I'm sure.

you have no chance mate. People living here do not see it being possible for general tourists until after a vaccine (if there ever is one). If you (people in general) don't want to take it I can't see them being allowed in. Why doesn't he visit you as he would be able to enter back to Thailand soon I think if he has a visa to be here but will have to quarantine at a dedicated hotel. I think that will be your best option to look into

Todd Yowell during normal times I would imagine there are much more arriving through the international airports.

we are looking at all our options. But him coming back to Canada for a visit probably won’t work. 14 day quarantine here and then 14 days back in Thailand. Means he’s is out of work for a month minimum. Not sure if that is possible.

Fact of the matter is I am totally fine with quarantine if I can get into Thailand.

Guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

I don't think you will be allowed. The second there is one case here everything will go into a big panic. They are not going to be able to track 200 planes a day of people into quarantine like they are doing now with flights organised through embassies. They are simply not going to accommodate getting their own citizens back and then change it for bus loads of tourists

A friend of a friend just arrived from the US. He had to come on a spousal visa. Long story but he had a few visa options available to him but spousal visa was the only one that would allow him to get in.

I think they may have just legalized same-sex-marriage. I dont know when/if/how it will work out with the paperwork. I was surprised when to discovered my government (Federal/USA) recognized same sex marriage 8 years ago.

no they passed the bill but it has to be voted on in parliament. Which has not happened yet.

yes that would work. But Thailand doesn’t recognize same sex marriage yet!

The six new groups were announced a few days ago, but each government department responsible for the groups will announce the processes in due course

unfortunately that won’t work in this case as Thailand doesn’t recognize same sex marriage yet!

When I heard the bill passed and it had to go to parliament for vote I was hopeful it would be soon (anyone know when that will happen).

I have a leave of absence from my work here in Canada for 6 months and our plan was that come to Thailand. Then covid happened. I’ve already postponed my leave at work 2 months in hopes things would get better but it seems everywhere is getting worse. My work won’t postpone my leave any further unfortunately so I’m stuck taking it in September

@Ryan *******
I believe that they already recognized the same sex marriage but I guess they still need the certificate that stated about your legal relationship with him. And sadly without the marriage certificate it's impossible to get the permit.

unfortunately Thailand does not recognize same sex marriage. the bill just passed earlier this month, but has to be voted on in parliament. and that hasn't happened yet.

@Ryan *******
The bill does not offer marriage to same-sex couples. It offers a civil partnership with few of the rights of married couples.

Tax, insurance, pension and immigration benefits/permissions are not included. Even if and when passed, it will not help those of us legally married (in our home countries) to Thais to return to Thailand or obtain a marriage visa.

This poorly-drafted bill creates a category of second-class citizens and is highly discriminatory.

Glimmer of hope: the Future Forward party has denounced the bill and is calling for the removal of references to gender in the Thai Marriage Act.

im ok with isolating for 14 days. I just haven’t seen my husband since January. A trip in April was cancelled due to the start of covid. We were hopeful for July. But postponed to sept and now I’m not sure if that will happen either.
Frankie ********
There hasn’t been an official announcement for August. It’s been relatively quiet the last week of July. There’s something afoot.
