I'm sure this is a hot topic, but I've read many articles talking vaguely about July 1st being the day borders open. I don't believe any of this kind of stuff until I see it happen of course, but what do you know? Anything about countries nearby? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Currently, there are no concrete updates regarding the opening of Thailand's borders, with the government prohibiting incoming passenger flights until June 30. Discussions include expectations of announcements in the coming weeks, but uncertainty remains regarding the reopening timeline and the potential for continued extensions of these restrictions. It has been noted that even if travel bans are lifted, strict conditions, including a 14-day quarantine, may remain in place. There are also mentions of neighboring countries that may be open to tourists, with some suggesting Tanzania as a possible option.

The “ Anything about countries nearby” part was ignored. I want to book a flight to a neighboring country as soon a possible, if Thailand is not opening soon after. Me and my gf met in Tokyo in October because of the “you come to Thailand too much”. Apparently 7 months per year 2017, 2018, and 2019 on tourist visa and extensions is too much.

7 months a year sounds like youre pretty much living here so that's not a tourist!

Thanks. I saw an article or two publish July 1st with certainty, so I wanted some input from those who were there.

. Only follow the PR Thai Government Facebook page. A lot of the other sources are just headline clickbaits. There was a funny one last week that claimed all international flights were operational again from July 1st. Realistically even if the government lifted the ban on incoming passengers, it would take airlines a while to get services running again, and it would be a slow process as all passengers would be subject to a number of conditions including 14 day quarantine.

It’s a month away. They could extend it another month again. No one can tell you for sure right now

Nothing concrete at this stage. Incoming passenger flights are banned until June 30. The government will probably make an announcement in 2-3 weeks. At this stage all land borders are closed. No indication when they will open. Lots of easing of restrictions within Thailand from today, but nothing outside.

a fair post. I'm thinking the same mate. The news came out May 16th about the extension so if it were to be extended again, you'd think around the same time. I'm hoping for no news.
