I did a TM-30 today and live in Bangkok. Next week, I want to go to Pattaya for a few days. My question: Will my hotel in Pattaya file a TM-30? Further, will I need to file another TM-30 when I return to Bangkok before I apply for my annual Extension of Stay at Chaengwattana next month?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM-30 form is required for foreigners staying at hotels and residences in Thailand to report their presence to immigration. When traveling to Pattaya, the hotel is expected to file a TM-30 on your behalf, but there may be uncertainty regarding the hotel’s compliance. Generally, if you return to your primary residence in Bangkok after traveling within Thailand, re-filing a TM-30 is not typically mandatory; however, some suggest submitting it again for safety, especially when applying for an Extension of Stay. Individual experiences vary, and checking with officials prior to your extension application is advisable.

Been here for 17 years and I've never done even one... very controversial to be honest.

, while anecdotally interesting it doesn't negate the fact that a TM30 needs to be done and some offices are hard core about you having the receipt in your possession when you get an extension 😕

very very lucky for you..possibly your landlord filed it.

I would resubmit a TM30 after your visit to Pattaya.

I didn't and when I went to extend my visa at CW they pulled me on it and asked me to come back once submitted.

NB I asked the hotel when in Pattaya, they said they wouldn't submit a TM30 for a one night stay, but they did...

As a general rule you do NOT have to re-file a TM30 if you are returning to your primary address from travel inside thailand.

I travelled from Bangkok to Phuket for a week at Xmas and didn't submit a new TM30 when I got back. I was able to do a new 90 day report in Jan though

For what it's worth, My TM30 is 2 years old.

I haven't left Thailand in that time but I have stayed at many hotels all over the provinces.

Never had an issue getting my yearly extensions at Chiang Wattana with my old TM30.

Maybe it depends on the Immigration Officer, but I've only ever had one TM30 filed at CW, despite having numerous trips within Thailand and annual extensions since then.

This is not what I recommend to anybody but it is my solution to get rid of small headache 🙂

I usually let my wife (Thai) to check in hotel with her Id (No trace of me /my passport copy in registration of hotel) while traveling around. It has worked for me in few years , no problem until now.

Good luck

The hotel in Pattaya is supposed to file a TM30 for you. Will they? Unknown, but you can ask them.

Generally Bangkok does not require you to file a new TM30 if you only traveled within the country, but if you have it setup to do online or your landlord does, it's better to just do it again to be safe.

Yes...and Yes

TM30 needs to be filed at both places

As the Hotel should file in Pattaya

Therefore you will need to file in Bangkok....just to be sure.

in Bangkok within 45 days of your ending date.

BTW some offices say no need to file tm30 if travel is within Thailand. Maybe
@Tod ********
