I am not sure if this has been answered already or if this is the right place to ask. We just went on a trip within Thailand and are confused about if we need to go to update the TM30? I know if we leave the country we must do it. What about if we stayed in a hotel in Thailand and returned home? I’ve had local Thai friends tell me I absolutely must go and I’ve had Farang friends who went to Immigration and they were told they didn’t need to do it if they didn’t leave the country...
Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to update the TM30 form after traveling within Thailand varies by local immigration office policies. While technically, you are required to re-register the TM30 if you stay in a different province for more than 24 hours, many immigration offices do not enforce this for domestic travel. It's advisable to check with your local immigration office for the most accurate information.
FWIW: the Chiang Mai immigrations office has a TM30 counter that's open 7 days a week.
With that being said Chiang Mai Immigrations has also said you DO NOT need to re-file or update a TM30 for in country travel. You only do it when you come back in from out of the country
Technically you do have to re-register a TM30 after 24 hours in a different province. But this is Thailand and it seems that every immigration office enforces it differently. I'd assume that they're all requiring it unless you're explicitly told otherwise by an immigration officer at your local office.
Ok, that explains why my Thai friend said I must and why my Farang friend said Immigration said no need. I’ll probably just go check and have them tell me directly.
