Is a 1-month bank statement sufficient for a Thai visa appointment in Yangon?

Any reports from Yangon? Is a 1 month account statement enough? I understand you need to book an appointment to get in. I took a look at their website and seems like you can easily secure an appointment starting about a week from when you book, but they only open slots up to around 2 weeks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the adequacy of a 1-month bank statement for securing a Thai visa in Yangon, with positive feedback about the visa application process. Some users share their experiences and suggest timing for appointments. Concerns about safety in Yangon are raised, with alternative locations like Laos and Taipei mentioned. However, there are mixed opinions regarding the best places to apply for the visa, considering individual circumstances.

Don't bother going to Yangon, you'll be putting yourself in danger AND you'll be giving comfort to the junta. Use Laos.

Laos no. That's the worst place to apply due to having to have many months of statements. I wouldn't be able to apply there, realistically until early December and then you have both Lao and Thai public holidays in the way.

Yangon is good, otherwise there's Jakarta or Taipei. These are the only ones remaining on my shortlist.

Phnom Penh would work, but I was just there last week and couldn't be bothered hanging around for over a week. Ho Chi Minh would work but I don't want to go there either as I have to go in November on business anyway.

Yangon suits me as I have people I know there and some business to do.

However I may end up going to Taiwan as the wife and children might join and wifey has zero interest in visiting Yangon.

I have seen a positive report from Yangon, here or on other FB Thai visa sites. Very easy process much like Jakarta going by the posting

Sounds good. It's much closer than Jakarta and I have friends/business interests in Yangon so would rather go there. In fact, I'm now leaning towards Yangon rather than Saigon especially with the latter heading towards the e-visa system soon.

you might check the addition of Yangon using the Evisa online application system. I believe Most All Thai Embassy or Consulate worldwide are in the process of going to the Evisa online application system.

Yes I checked and Yangon mentioned in a FB post back in July they will be moving to the e-visa system by the end of the year. No exact date has been announced yet.

Yes, it is very close to Bangkok, if you there . There were no major flags from the posting I recall, I believe one month bank statement.

Yes, one person here confirmed this, which would be sweet. I will meet that requirement by the time I go (probably next month) by which time I'll be getting close to the 2 month account seasoning mark.

I haven't got time to go before next month anyway, not to mention I want to wait until my existing visa has expired (though my current entry stamp takes me to the end of November).

I think Yangon gets less applicants than other major SEA embassies so you will be dealt with quickly.

For obvious reasons. They've never been busy there. I once applied for a non-B there, back in late 2013. My application was accepted even though I got there in the afternoon. I asked politely in Thai and they accepted it (I think the staff are mostly Burmese).

I was in the Kawthaung area and nearby islands in April. Also went to Kawthaung in July last year. Otherwise, my last trip was in February 2020 just before Covid. Back then you could travel to Yangon etc by land from Thailand and that's what I did...but hasn't been permitted since the borders reopened. Now it's fly in/out only except if you enter at Kawthaung by boat, but then you're restricted to a 50-100km radius from the city by road or to the islands.

Oh that's fantastic! So if only 1 month of banked funds and statement are needed, I think I'll apply there! Would love to visit Yangon again.

Any other tips for Yangon? In terms of documentation? Is it also a 3 day turnaround?
