TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the current application process for a DTV Visa in Yangon, Myanmar. It's advised to provide three to six months of bank statements to meet the proof of funds requirement of 500,000 Baht (or equivalent), and using a long-standing bank account is preferred to avoid complications. There are experiences shared about successful applications, including the process of scheduling appointments and what to expect during the interview.

what I was confused by is the letter of employment and business good standing paper. Typically in America that paper showing your business is in good standing is only given to LLCs. Most the ppl applying seem to have an LLC or their countries version of that so I wasn't sure if they were also showing their LLC accounts as well or just personal.

In general, any company is a legal 'person' in its own right and therefore, any bank accounts and funds in those accounts belong to the company.

Even for a company with a sole owner and director, there's a legal firewall.

I understand there's more than one type of US LLC and that in some cases the legal interpretation may be different, but it's not the business of Thailand to understand the intricacies of US company law.

The funds really need to be in your bank account, not the company account.

I would agree its not the business of Thailand especially when all 50 states treat their LLCs wildly different too.

are people applying solely as a sole proprietor in some cases. Seem to be getting conflicting answers, I have an LLC and a sole prop. as well so either would be fine for me.

Sole proprietorship is fine. I thought you were talking about bank accounts here?

Bring 6 months of statements but the 500,000 baht or equivalent doesn’t need to be in your account for all 6 months. At least that was the experience of the people I know who got it. I have my appointment next week so I can let you know more after that. You should get an appointment first. Slots open for the next 2 weeks but fill up quite quickly.

I understand you can transfer the funds just days or a couple of weeks before, for Yangon.

here to update that I got my DTV! Appointment was this Monday morning. I submitted my documents and then they told me to come back in the afternoon for my interview. Interview took just a couple of minutes. After that you pay and get a receipt to come pick up your passport 2 days later. It was all quite easy and they were nice.

Immigration gets very suspicious if you are using a new Thai bank. You have much more success using your regular bank account in your home country all your business goes through, and that you've had for a length of time.

Which is perfectly understandable. I don't understand why people suddenly have 500k THB or equivalent and not had a similar amount of funds before.

I think Thailand is trying to attract people who have money enough to pay for their living, not people who got through tricks that kind of money just for a moment.

probably not, the bank statements seem to be the area where they are cracking down. You can give your mate his money back.

Yes, it seems like a tricky area. Maybe it would be better to wait one month, or perhaps show something like a sponsorship?

For Yangon, it seems to be OK. However, better to have funds in there for a month. Have you made an appointment yet?

Will it be okay to apply for a visa at the end of October after waiting for a month?

However, for Yangon, no need to wait too long. They're moving to the e-visa system soon. I'd recommend going there maybe mid October.
