Did anyone ever experience getting a non-immigrant ED visa at the Thai Embassy in Yangon (Myanmar)?
On their website, among the proofs are requested a police clearance certificate and copies of the bank statement: are the officers really looking on these 2 justifications or is it possible to do without it?
Finally, thank you to give details of your experience at the Yangon Thai Embassy: procedure, time spent, ease or hardship ...
Thank you very much.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about experiences in obtaining a non-immigrant ED visa at the Thai Embassy in Yangon, particularly the necessity of a police clearance certificate and bank statement. Community comments reveal mixed experiences, with some stating that a police certificate is not needed despite the embassy's website indicating otherwise. Users share their insights on the application process, mentioning the requirement for Thai language study and encouraging the original poster to share updates about their experience.
Tod just for the record I checked with my language school and they confirmed that they have sent students to Yangon for ED visa and successfully got it WITHOUT the police certificate. so there you go.
Any other feedback about Yangon? I have to cancel and then reapply for ed visa. my first time was at Vientiane. My language schools says that it is better the second time to do it in in Myanmar. Also any info about the police certificate? Where did you get that
Hey Alexandre ! I'm glad you're asking this because it's exactly what I'm wondering right now ! I also saw that they ask for Thai language at least 5 days per week, and 5 hours per day..... ๐ต I'm going to Yangon in November. Donc je serais ravie d'avoir ton retour, s'il te plaรฎt tiens-nous au courant ! Merci ๐๐๐
Just get my non-immigrant ED visa from Yangon Thai embassy. And I recommend it a lot.
I arrive on Monday 8.30am in front of the embassy, 10 people are waiting. Embassy open at 9am. In 15 minutes I was out already.
There are 4 counters, 2 only for submit the documents. The staff is nice, friendly, professional and very well organised.
I submit my documents and an info was missing on the application form: the staff tell me what to write and I did it from the counter directly. She then check all the documents, you pay 80USD (USD only is accepted) then you get your receipt.
On the next day, I arrive at 2pm and 5 minutes later I've got my passport with my new ED visa.
Be careful that you have to submit a perfect documentation as requested on their website which are:
- passport + copy passport
- application form duly completed
- 2 photos 3.5*4.5cm
- all documents from your school (my school is the Knowkedge and they provide me the right documents)
- Police criminal certificate
- bank statement.
If your documentation are precise and well organised, I highly recommend to apply your ED visa in Yangon.
Organised, friendly and professional.
In addition, the city of Yangon is much more alive and beautiful than Vientiane.
