TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your retirement visa from your old passport to your new passport, visit the immigration office where you received your extension. It's advisable to do this before leaving Thailand. The process typically involves filling out a simple form and may cost around 500 baht. You can use both your old and new passports for travel until your visa expires, which is set for renewal next August.

I'm waiting now at Hua Hin immigration to do this. Explain at Immigration Information, they will give you a simple paper to fill in. It's not complicated!

You need to go to the immigration office that you got your extension from to transfer the stamp. You should do it before you leave Thailand again, as the airport people will get cranky knowing you had the opportunity to do it already but did not.

In theory, yes. But there are some immigration offices that charge, no receipt of course.
