I am on a retirement visa until March 26. My passport only has 2 pages left on it. I am going back to UK next week and thinking of getting a new passport. How would I swap my retirement visa over? And what would happen when retiring to Thailand in 1 month.
Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a non-O or non-OA retirement visa, you cannot simply transfer it to a new passport. When you get your new passport in the UK, keep your old passport as it contains your visa. When you return to Thailand, bring both passports, show them at immigration, and ensure the correct stamp is applied in your new passport. You will need to visit the local immigration office in Thailand to transfer any relevant stamps and extensions from your old passport to the new one. It's advisable to keep photocopies of important pages of your old passport, especially the visa.

I went through this process last year. On my first return to Thailand, showed both passports. I then went along to our local immigration (Phuket) with both passports, TM.7, TM.30 and the relevant photocopies, and they moved my non O (retirement) extension and multi re-entry stamps to the new passport. All very painless. Have since used only the new passport. Wife (German passport) has just got a new passport while we are in Europe and will do the same when we go back.

Take photos of every page in your passport especially the current visa and save them to a cloud account
If you lose your passport and it does happen your stuck in no man’s land
Good luck

Be sure to use the number of the new passport when you do the TDAC

if you have an actual Non-O or Non-OA, it cannot be transfered, you bring both passports until you apply for a new visa or an extension.
if you are alraedy on an extension after an actual visa, you can transfer stamps to the new passport.
bring both passports to enter thailand, show both passports when you are stamped in and be sure you get correct stamp on your new passport based on the extension and re-entry permit on your old passport.
you go to the local immigration office once you are abck in thailand to apply for transfeer the stamps.
