TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer a retirement visa from an old UK passport to a new one, it's essential to understand that visas are specific to the passport they were issued in and cannot be transferred. Instead, only extensions of stay can be transferred to the new passport. This can typically be done at a Thai immigration office in Thailand. Some immigration offices may require a letter from the UK embassy to authenticate the new passport. Holders of year-long multi-entry visas should carry both passports until the visa in the old one expires.

thanks. When my wife collected my passport, she didn't get (for whatever reason) the letter--this some three years ago. I had to talk my way out of it at immigration. Who would imagine a passport needs authenticating?
VFS in Trendy is who you apply for your passport through. And, yes.

Lloyd Turner (1) who are VFS? (2) are you sure ?

VFS will give the letter, as they are the issuing authority.

"extension is a sticker"????

And this relatively simple question by the O/P shows the peril in using incorrect terminology.
A visa is a stamp or sticker put in your passport by the thai consulate (and sometimes the immigration office) BUT it is passport specific and CAN'T be transferred to a new passport.
An extension is a sticker put in your passport by the immigration office and it CAN be transferred to a new passport.

The immigration will only transfer extensions of stay stamps to a new passport.
IF you hold a year-long multi-entry type visa (the kind where you border bounce to activate another entry) you carry BOTH passports until the visa in the old one expires and you'd be stamped in/out on the new one.
Here is what a visa looks like and here is what an extension looks like.
BUT all they do is make a notation about the date you held the original O visa in the first page of your passport THEN they transfer the extension and any re-entry permits to the new passport

The extension is an extension if stay for the original non O Visa
, if you had an extension you were not on ANY visa anymore. You are on one or the other at any given time.

Possibly changed throughout the years. When I transfered mine in 2012 the visa and the extension of stay was transfered. Possibly changed throughout the years
STOP giving incorrect info. You clearly do NOT know the difference between a VISA and an extension of stay.

Sorry my visa was transfered on the first three pages after my ID page

No Barry your extension stamp was transferred, not your visa.
Lloyd ********
No it was not. VISAS ARE NOT TRANSFERRED.

My Vida was transfered to my new passport with the allowed date

STOP. Incorrect. Visas are not transferred. I have given the answer already.

Visas are not transferred, just carry both passports. If an extension, VFS will give you a letter to take to immigration asking them to transfer the stamps. This should be free.
