Re-Entry permit

I've done it before but I want to be sure...

I get the re-entry permit at the airport before i get stamped out and that is all i need in order to return to the kingdom on the same visa extension that i am currently on, is that correct? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a re-entry permit in Thailand, you can do so at the airport before leaving the country. Specifically, go to the immigration desk marked 're-entry permit' before you get your passport stamped out. It is recommended to get the re-entry permit in advance at the immigration office where you obtained your visa extension for convenience. However, it is also available at Suvarnabhumi Airport for 1,200 THB for a single and 4,000 THB for a multiple entry, which doesn’t require additional documents. The process is generally quick, averaging about 15 minutes, but planning ahead is advisable to avoid potential delays.

Suvarnabhumi has re-entry permits available

for people who are flying out. They are only sold in Departure 2, and they cost 1200 for a single re-entry and 4000 for a multiple re-entry. No need for a photo or a form or any copies (that's why it's 200baht more than the real price at immigrations :P) Just tell someone you need a re-entry permit and they'll get someone to man the desk for you :)

thanks a lot! I think you gave me this exact answer some two or three years ago 😁

I always do the re-entry at the immigration office the day I get the extension.

Best to get re entry permit at immigration before you go to the airport You can get it well before you travel. It cost 1,000 THB either way but one less thing to do at the airport

i just did it a couple of months ago, no queue at re entry desk nor at immigration.

@David ********
. No it isn't . The desk is ten feet from passport control and rarely takes more than 15 minutes to get one.

I have been an airline Captain operating out of Bangkok (BKK) for 10 years and I know exactly where immigration counter is. Probably been by there a lot more than you have.

and that just shows
@David ********
, that time in country doesn't equate to knowing shit from Shinola about things. It's far easier to get a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi than it is to slog to the immigration office, queue up and get one

. Then you should know how much easier it is.... ffs.. Don't be late checking in.. thats why they tell you 2 hours prior.. you should know this as a "Captain". Buy a multiple if it's too hard.

@Steven **************
why buy a multiple entry for 4,000 BHT when you only enter twice a year. No we’re did I say it was hard at the airport. But when you pass by immigration once a week it is easy to get.

@David ********
.

You might pass by immigration once a week but most don't. Only time I would suggest going to immigration prior for it is if you are travelling with a group such as wife and kids, and you'll have to drag them to immigration with you , they need to be present.

Easier and quicker at the airport

I never said it was not easy to get at the airport. If you are late checking in for a flight and not enough time to go to Immigration at the airport or passenger numbers go back to normal you may not have enough time. Personally to go to Immigration in Pattaya a week in advance just clears one item that I do not have to do at the airport. This is just good planning.

Yes ..just go to the counter at far side get it all sorted.. multiple entry 4000 baht..all good..thats where I did mine when flew back to the UK..
Garrett ***********
Yes, at immigration there's a desk marked "reentry permit". Go there before you get stamped out.

At this time yes for the visa extension. I am sure you are aware of all the other requirements to enter back into Thailand besides your visa extension right?

I've been through that last year but i assume that the requirements have changed by now... Well however, i already got the visa, insurance,... So it won't be as much of a hassle as last year. Also I will have already gotten the vaccination upon return which might or might not affect the duration of the ASQ

@เฮนนิ่ง ***********
Currently ASQ is back up to 15 days for everyone, whether you are vaccinated, or not.
