Hi all, did my research and would like to confirm the steps to get a re-entry permit at Don Muang.

1. Go to passport control, mention to officer you want re-entry, and he will stamp appropriately.

2. Go to re-entry office after passport control and receive re-entry permit (with passport photo, TM-8 form, copies of passport and entry/visa stamps, and 1000 baht).

3. When arriving in Bangkok again, alert IO of re-entry permit and write re-entry permit on Arrival Card.

Anything else? Just feels odd to stamp out of Thailand BEFORE receiving re-entry, don't want any issues with that.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a re-entry permit at Don Muang, travelers must first inform passport control of their intention to secure a re-entry stamp. Next, they should proceed to the re-entry office with necessary documents, including a passport photo, completed TM-8 form, copies of their passport and visa stamps, and a fee of 1000 baht. Upon re-entry into Thailand, informing the immigration officer of the permit and noting it on the Arrival Card is advisable, although some comments suggest this may not be necessary.

To whom (that live in Chiang Mai) itmay concern: when you re-enter the country and get stamped in at one of the Bangkok gateways, you're only halfway home. Within 24 hours, you have to hoof it out to Promenada with passport in hand and report back in with your completed TM-28 form. The office is upstairs near Tian.

If you leave Thailand, CM Immigration considers you to have vacated your TM30 address of record, and requires the reaffirmation of your address via a new filing of the TM28. I know this to be a fact. It cost me money to find out.

It is the TM30 Form, or if you changed address than it is the TM28 form.

doubtful they’ll let me into the immigration section with a domestic ticket, but I will ask. Thanks

If you fly out tomorrow from Phuket you have access to that part of the airport, I would say go in time and have a go.

yes I was thinking about that. But it’s too late to go to immigration here, I’m flying out tomorrow. I hope they’ll fix it in Chiang Mai

I think better to go directly to an Immigration Office in Phuket. Immigration at airports is most of the time behind the security and the area only allowed for passengers.

You can go to the airport you flew in to or the immigration office to get the stamp corrected.

Be advised sometimes the airports will send you to the immigration office instead of correcting it there.

- since you mentioned this, I just checked the stamp I received a couple days ago on my reentry. Yup that’s what happened! Can I go back to the airport and get it fixed? I’m in Phuket , but about to go back to Chiang Mai

even thought they should know you have a re-entry permit it definitely doesn't hurt you to point it out to the immigration officer, people get stamped in wrong all the time :/
