ORIGINAL POSTER
Thought I'd share my experience of getting a re-entry permit from Suvarnabhumi Airport this morning. The desk is located in International Departures 2. You pass through security, go down the escalator towards passport control and turn right at the bottom. The desk is situated in the far left corner. The staff fill in the form for you and take your photo, then take the form to some back office for processing while you wait, and return it to you when done. Very simple process, the whole thing took less than ten minutes, although I was the only one there. Price is as normal, 1000 for single, 3800 for multiple, plus 200 for admin fee. Receipts provided for all.

I bet you didn't have 20kg of heroin strapped to your belly.. In that case it's bit more complicated.. Otherwise pretty simple procedure.. The bitch is getting back-in (more so with 20kg ... )

Zachery **********

@Han *******
only Suvarnabhumi has that special 'service fee", none of the other international airports have it. :(

Sorry, in CNX I never paid extra!

how many re-entry permits have you bought at Suvarnabhumi Airport?
James ***********
So what visa did you have that required you to get the re-entry permit?
Tod *********
Ian, you are mixing up a re-entry permit with a visa. :/

All a re-entry permit can do is allow you to leave the country, come back and still get your original expiration date on your admitted until stamp. It can't add days to it. :(

Tod Daniels I hope this isn't a stupid question. You say that one can get a re entry permit on a tourist visa? Does than mean that instead of going to Vientiane to get another SETV, I could get one from BKK airport instead without having to leave the country? Or am I getting re entry permits mixed up with visas?

@Ja***
, most people who get re-entry permits are on yearly extensions of some sort. When you get a yearly extension at the immigration office you can buy a re-entry permit IF you want to but it's not included. I haven't bought a re-entry permit since 2009 :O just my yearly extension..

Ok, hence the other guy saying he prefers the METV..sounds a better option. But if the OP had a non O, im guessing re-entry is the only option?

you can get a re-entry permit on a tourist visa IF you want to. ;)
