hello - I am flying out of Bangkok on Tuesday morning to the US. When I have left the country in the past, I have needed to go to immigration to get a re entry permit plus pay a fee. Is this still needed ? If so, will I be able to obtain it at the airport ? ((flight leaves at 8am)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you need a re-entry permit to keep your extension of stay active while flying out of Bangkok. You can obtain this permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which has a re-entry counter open 24/7 located in International Departure 2. The fee is 1,200 THB at the airport. Alternatively, you can get a re-entry permit for 1,000 THB at the immigration office a day before your departure.

As people pointed out the re-entry counter at Suvarnabhumi is open

, and in International Departure 2.

Can do this at the airport

You may want to make sure you are planning to come back to Thailand within your current extension (means before your permitted until date). If you would be back in Thailand later that date, a re-entry permit wouldn't be any help and you need to do the visa process again.

To keep your extension of stay "alive", you'll have to get a re-entry permit. You can get it at Bangkok International Airport, for 1,200 THB. LET the immigration officer know you want to get a re-entry permit, and if there is nobody at the counter, ask for someone to come and sell you the permit.

OR... On Monday, go to the immigration office and get a Rentry Permit, it's 1K THB there.

before covid I saw people (Filipinos in the know) brought the form and pics and paid 1000 baht. The 200 baht is for them to take ur pic and fill out the form for u.

amazing, i rather take care of it at the airport but was worried about timing - if it is opened 24hours then there should be no problem :)

is there a way to know if the immigration services will be open/available when I get to the airport?

At Bangkok International Airport, the re-entry permit desk is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, given the low foot traffic, it's not manned all the time. When you go to immigration, let them know you want a re-entry permit so they can get someone at the desk.
