Hi, i am on Non-O visa on yearly extension, my passport is due to expire and i am leaving home country for some work and plan to renew there and back to thailand. I am not renewing in Thailand. Once I am back, what is the process of transferring my yearly visa from old to new passport? 1) Do I need letter from embassy? 2) Does single/double/multiple entry visa makes a difference? Pls advice. thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your Non-O visa after renewing your passport abroad, ensure you have a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. Upon your return, present both your old and new passports to immigration. They will stamp you in on your new passport. Then, visit your local immigration office with both passports to transfer the extension stamps to your new passport. You do not need a letter from the embassy for this process.

no, 5 will be the entry stamp in your NEW passport when you come back into the country with the new one. 6 and 7 are the old passport (the VISA and the last extension stamp) you aren't coming in with a new visa, you're coming in on a re-entry permit from an extension (and those are both in your OLD passport) the only thing in the new passport will be the new entry stamp when you come back in on it

Make sure you have a re-entry permit before you fly out.

When you come back present BOTH passports at the stamp in counter, they'll stamp you in on your new passport

THEN

Go to your local immigration office with both passports and get the extension stamps moved to the new passport.

You won't have the "embassy letter" because you only get that from your embassy when you get a new passport INSIDE thailand ;)

You won't need it because immigrations will see that you were stamped IN to thailand on your new passport :)

there is NO embassy letter, because there is no embassy from your country IN your country :(

You only get an embassy letter if you renew your passport at an embassy OUTSIDE of your country :P
