If you originally entered the country a few years ago on a Non OA and are now on extensions of stay based on retirement, then you renew your passport and need to get the info transferred to your new passport do they transfer the original visa(as in give you a new sticker in the new passport) or do they only transfer the revelant extension stamps information (as in give you a new stamp in the new passport)

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you transfer your visa and extension information to a new passport in Thailand after entering on a Non OA visa, immigration will indicate your initial entry date and original visa type on the first page of the new passport. They will then provide a new stamp for your current extension and any valid re-entry permits, effectively documenting all relevant details associated with your stay.

Okay, lets sort this out, IF you entered on an OA visa, got a few years of extensions and then got a new passport when you GO to the immigration office to get the stamps transferred they'd indicate on the FIRST stamp the date you entered thailand, and the visa you entered on, and then they'd put the entry stamp that visa got you, THEN below that a date of the extensions you'd had and your most recent departure stamp, then on the next page they'd re-stamp your current extension (and any re-entry permit that was valid)

I got a Non-O (not an OA visa) and entered thailand on it Jan 6 2009 and was stamped in until the 6th of April 2009

That was all in my OLD passport and now it's the first page of my new one

Here's a more convoluted example

They entered Oct 17, 2014 on a 30 day visa exempt stamp in BKK, (ผ.30) <- the middle left stamp,

under it in thai it says ต่อ30วัน, extended 30 days,

then they got a 90 day Non-O in CM on the 9th of Dec 2014<- the middle right stamp, good until 7th March 2015

under it in thai it says เปลียน ทรค RT <- changed to retirement

below that was the most recent departure stamp <- bottom left 13 Feb 2019, and their most recent arrival 15 Oct 1018 good until 7 March 2019

What I'm getting at is the visa type, the date you entered on it, when you exited last when you entered last is all moved to the new passport.

One more useless tidbit 😮 looking at a whole yearly extension stamp neither you nor an immigation officer can tell you if a retirement extension is from an OA or from an O visa.

They have to look at either the visa in your passport, your entry stamp OR the front page of your passport if you got a new one to tell

@Lloyd *******
so the original visa is transferred to the new passport by means of a stamp as a opposed to a sticker......is this what you mean?
Ellie *******
@Dirk *******
, No, the original visa is not transferred. But information about your entry stamp/visa (in your case, Non-OA) will be commented with stamps.

@Lloyd *******
thanks for the quick reply. So the original visa information is not recorded on the new passport?

@Dirk *******
, they will put a copy of your entry stamp.

Which will say "Visa class Non-OA".
