What should I do about my Non-immigrant O visa after getting a new passport?

In July I got a Non-immigrant O multi-entry visa from London.

However, because of the EU passport expiry date rules I have had to get a new passport so I contacted the London Embassy (visa) and asked if they could re-issue it with the amended passport details.

This is their reply:

โ€œThe names and other information on your visa reflect what was submitted at the time of the visa application. Unfortunately, once the application is submitted and made payment. We can only cancel or approved your application. We are not able to amend the details of the application.

You may choose to start a new application, or you may have to explain the situation at the Immigration Office upon arrival.โ€

Any idea what BKK immig would say to that?

I suspect it is unlikely and just give me 30 days even if I take my old passport with me.

And comments?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-immigrant O multi-entry visa but has had to obtain a new passport due to expiry date rules. They contacted the London Embassy to amend the visa details, but the embassy informed them that they cannot amend details once the visa application is submitted. They are unsure how to proceed upon arrival in Thailand and are concerned about the likely outcome at BKK immigration. Comments suggest bringing the old passport along with the Non-O visa eVisa PDF to present to immigration upon entry, similar to how multiple entry visa stickers can be managed between old and new passports.

What you can do is, bring your Non-O visa eVisa PDF on paper (printout) and your old passport, then show them to the immigration officer at passport control when you enter Thailand.

It's the same procedure as when you have a multiple entry visa sticker on your old passport and enter Thailand on a new passport. Just the format of visas is different (sticker or PDF)

You need to bring an old passport until your multiple entry visa expires.

Many people keep doing it with a multiple entry visa on an old passport, especially as a sticker.

Good advice. Would they ever change their minds?

, no but people including immigration officers make mistakes. And keeping your stamp right is your responsibility, not offiers'..

Great. Thanks. How close do you think that is to actually working in practice?
