How can I re-link my DTV visa to my new passport after it was stolen?

— STOLEN PASSPORT / DTV ISSUE ADVICE -

Hi everyone,

I’m a Canadian currently in Thailand, and my passport was stolen while I was in Europe before re-entering Thailand. I already have a new passport, and my DTV visa is electronic — it was not a physical sticker, and I still have the DTV approval email, receipt, and e-Visa PDF copy.

When I entered Thailand on November 6, I was given a 60-day tourist stamp on arrival, but I’d really like to continue using my valid DTV visa that’s linked to my stolen passport.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has successfully:

1. Re-linked their electronic DTV to a new passport after a theft or renewal, or

2. Had an agent or immigration office assist with this exact process/ what documents you needed?

Documents I currently have:

• photocopy in black and white of the stolen passport ID page and all pages with stamps before exiting Thailand to go to Europe in September

• Police report (original + translation)

• New passport copy

• Entry stamp (Nov 6) and TDAC form

• DTV e-Visa PDF, approval email, and payment receipt

• TM30 (current residence)

• Supporting docs: passport replacement application + proof of payment, updated lease with my new passport number on it, most recent bank statement, outbound flight and updated Muay Thai invitation letter with my new passport number on it.

Has anyone successfully done this, or know which immigration office or visa agent can handle it?

Otherwise, if you had to renew your passport and your DTV was linked to your old passport - how did you fix this?!!

Any first-hand experience would really help me decide whether to try re-linking or re-apply from scratch.

Thanks in advance for any guidance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat in Thailand seeks advice on re-linking their DTV visa, which was tied to a stolen passport, to a new passport. They have the necessary documents including a police report and entry stamp but are unsure how to proceed with immigration. Users offer suggestions to visit the immigration office with all documentation or to show both old and new passports to authorities.

If you have a photocopy of the data page of your old passport, a printout of the DTV visa and your new passport you should just be able to show that when entering the country. You may also be able to get immigration to put a stamp in your new passport acknowledging your old passport number. But whichever way you cut it I think you are going to have to leave and return to onto the DTV

Did you showed your DTV at the airport?

I have DTV in old passport and have to show both new and old each entry.

Obviously different for you but try showing the photocopy of old along with DTV PDF and explain what happened

that sounds like a pain in the ass.. would they not change the passport number for you electronically and let you print a cert off to use?

No, they won't

nope hence having to carry both passports. Not really a PITA tbh as I have a passport holder for other passports on me anyway

Did you show them DTV visa upon entry ? What did they say ?

Try to contact the consulate was granted the visa for you. Usually when you change the passport you need to show both old and new passport.

You should go back to the airport and show them. What you got

Did you explain the situation when you were entering the country and show your DTV then? What did they say you needed to do?

I feel you are overthinking. You're so in order with all your papers and new passport. I could see no reason why you should not have your DTV again. Visit the immigration and, surely, they would sort things for or advise you. Go to Chaengwattana, the counter people there are usually helpful. No need for an agency, I feel.

you seem sorted. Just take everything when at immigration
