— HELP: STOLEN PASSPORT: flying to bkk soon … who to contact?! Please read below —

I need some advice regarding my Muay Thai DTV (Soft Power) visa and my visa is digital (I have an online copy and a printed version - nothing was in my actual passport luckily)

I applied and was approved digitally in Hanoi, but my old Canadian passport was stolen recently and I now have a new passport. I need to update my passport number for my visa, and the Muay Thai school is updating the invitation letter for me.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Who should I contact, and what steps do I need to take to make sure my visa is recognized when I fly to Bangkok on November 5 from Madrid?

- I have a photo of my old passport

- a photo of my new passport

- police report

- all emails with the Canadian embassy regarding my stolen passport

- all DTV documents/pics digitally I used when applying in Hanoi and being approved

Are there any agents in Chiang Mai or elsewhere who can help with this process also?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated — I want to avoid any issues at immigration.

Thank you!

Shannon

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on updating their Muay Thai DTV visa after their Canadian passport was stolen, while emphasizing that they possess a digital copy of their visa. They plan to fly to Bangkok soon and inquire about the necessary steps to ensure their visa is recognized with their new passport. Community responses suggest contacting the Thai embassy or the Canadian embassy for assistance, ensuring the visa matches the new passport, and potentially using an agent to help with the transition.

i have had this issue

you need a letter from your consulate or embassy

which you have to fill in with all the details

british embassy made me go into the bkk office to collect it

actually just a photocopy form

i would phone your embassy and ask them if they can post or email it to you

i used it as i left land border to cambodia

they weren’t very happy and made me wait a while

but not a big dray

they had all the border entry stamps there so they used to it

Your visa has to match your passport . ( new visa )

Phone your own embassy as soon as possible. Also you have to do a police report even though nothing will come of it.

@Shannon *****
this might be tricky because your visa is attached to your old passport and now you have a different passport number . I would seriously go ask immigration or go to agent on this
Jeremy ********
No idea what to do…even people with old passports have to carry them with the new passport for the duration of the visa

Good luck

@Bob *********
the stolen one wasn't old, it was the current and only passport. OP had to make a new one because that one was stolen.

as long as she has a valid passport with a police report she’ll be fine

you still need your physical passport to travel - if you do not have proof of it on you and you are stopped and asked for it you can be detained until they sort it out

What about contacting the Thai embassy in the country you are in right away?

@Sukanya **********
The most sensible response here. Take all your documents, everything you have and present it to them. They must be able to help you more and provide an entry in your new passport.

, Agreed I think it's a good choice to do this, but she might have her own reasons.
