Can I enter Thailand with my old passport containing my DTV visa and my new passport?

Hi everyone, I already have an approved DTV visa, but I need to renew my passport soon.

After I get my new passport, my DTV visa will still be in my old one. In this case, can I bring both my old and new passports when I enter Thailand? Will immigration accept that?

My old passport may be marked as invalid (cut corner or stamped), but the DTV visa page will remain intact.

Has anyone had experience entering Thailand like this? Or should I apply for a visa transfer to the new passport after arriving?

Thank you so much in advance šŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing your passport while holding a DTV visa, it's crucial to bring both your old passport (with the visa) and the new one when entering Thailand. While some users suggested the possibility of transferring the visa to the new passport, the consensus indicates that the visa cannot be transferred. Instead, it's recommended to present both passports at immigration upon arrival. They will make a note of the visa in your old passport while stamping your new one. This process ensures that your entry is smooth despite having the visa in an invalidated old passport.

Immigrations cannot transfer a VISA (that you got from a thai consulate in another country before you came here) to a new passport

If you have a 'sticker DTV' <- as in you applied before all the consulates in the world went to PDF online eVisas you show BOTH passports when you stamp in to the country,

They will stamp you in on the new one make a note in it that your visa is in the old one.

Just rubber band both passports together

I heard about in Thailand at the Immigration is possible to transfer the VISA to the new passport. You should travel there with both passports, you get stamped into the new one and after at the Immigration you would be able to transfer the VISA to your new passport.

You can't transfer a visa, only an extension. That said, yes, you carry both passports and all future stamps will be entered in the new passport
