Do I need to link my DTV visa to my new passport after getting a new one?

Does anyone know what I should do?

Last year I applied for a DTV visa with my old passport. Last month I went back home and got a new passport. When I returned to Thailand 2 weeks ago, I showed both passports at airport immigration.

Do I now need to go to Chaengwattana immigration to link my DTV visa to my new passport?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the process necessary to link their DTV visa from an old passport to a new one after a recent change of passports. Responses indicate that it is advised to visit the Chaengwattana immigration office to transfer the visa to the new passport, while keeping both passports available for reference. The process may involve linking both documents officially to ensure smooth travel and compliance with Thai immigration regulations.

You can go to immigration and ask if they can help you. Some offices will take both of your passports and your printed visa, make sure everything matches, and then put a small stamp inside your passport that references your old passport number. This will let you enter Thailand with just your new passport and your printed visa.

Tell them to ask Thai Visa Center.

I think you need to get it transferred over it’s not expensive to do and always keep your expired passports as sometimes thai immigration might ask to see them

no, there is nothing that can get transferred. Immigration can only transfer their own stamps. A DTV is an embassy-issued document or sticker and Immigration has nothing to do with it

Yes, they will do at immigration

you can't do that at immigration. Read Stuart's reply.

A DTV is issued by an Embassy which comes under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is nothing to do with Immigration so they cannot help

No they won’t. A DTV visa (whether a sticker in your passport or a PDF file that was sent to you via email) is not transferable.

So, from now on, I need to travel with both passports?

You travel with both passports for the remainder of your visa.
