Next question is ........................................................................

I need to renew my passport which I will do in UK when I arrive there. My old passport has my Visa, Extension and Multi Entry Permit details in it. Does this create a problem when trying to re enter Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing your passport while having your visa and permits in your old passport, it's important to manage the transition properly. When entering Thailand, you should carry both your old passport (with visa, extension, and multi-entry permit) and your new passport. It's advisable to inform the immigration officers about the valid extensions in your old passport. Depending on the situation, they may transfer the necessary stamps to your new passport or guide you on how to handle it at the immigration office. Additionally, ensure you request that your old passport be returned to you after renewal in the UK.

Tip of the day.

Be sure when renewing in the UK to tick the box to have your old passport returned when you post it off for renewal. If not, it's gone and destroyed.

Okay, there's a slightly different procedure when getting a new passport OUTSIDE the country and comin' into thailand with your old one (with your extension and re-entry permit) and your new one.

You just show BOTH passports to the people at passport control when you stamp in and many times they will take you aside and move the valid extension, re-entry permit to the new passport OR they will just stamp you in on the new passport and tell you to go to the immigration office and get your stamps transferred,

Inform them that a valid Extension of Stay and a Multi Entry Permit is in the old passport, normally than they avoid these pages when drilling holes or cutting the edge off. Use both passport on entry into Thailand, get a letter from your Embassy and than you can transfer the stamps into your new passport.

I dont think there is a UK Embassy in London.
