Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before?
UK Passport holder.
I'm currently back home in the UK
I was living in Thailand on a 1 Year Retirement Visa which is due to expire 27 August 2020.
Prior to coming back home to the UK and in order to keep my retirement visa active, I went to the local Immigration Office and got a Re-entry Permit Stamp in my passport.
I was hoping to return to Thailand before my visa expired, but that is now looking unlikely because of the current travel restrictions!
However, my UK Passport was due to expire later this year, I've since renewed it and had my old passport returned to me.
My question is – in the unlikely event that I can travel back to Thailand before my retirement visa expires in my old passport, will my old passport + retirement visa/re-entry permit stamp, along with my new passport be accepted by Thai Immigration, or do I need to get my retirement visa etc transferred onto my new passport before I can travel back to Thailand?
Many thanks
TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder with a Retirement Visa that is due to expire can still enter Thailand using both their old passport (with the retirement visa and re-entry permit stamp) and their new passport. It's necessary to present both passports upon arrival in Thailand, as stamps cannot be transferred to a new passport from outside the country.
