One for the UK expats.

If you have an active visa and re entry permit. Leave and renew your passport. Do you re enter on existing passport? Of course carrying both old and new passports with you?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can re-enter Thailand with both your old and new passports as long as you carry the old passport that contains your valid re-entry permit. Thai immigration will check the old passport upon arrival, so it's crucial not to attempt to use the new passport to gain entry without presenting the old one.

Carry both passports with you.

Thai immigration will see your old passport upon arrival.

Dont try to fool them by showing them your new passport to seek a visa exempt entry vs reentry with your old passport if you have a reentry permit in it with a valid extension of stay.
