Australian passport on a non-imm B extension of stay, with a re-entry permit. Currently in Aus and need to apply for a new passport while I’m here as my current one is full.

Does anyone know how it works on the Thailand end when entering with a new passport and a cancelled passport with a valid visa inside? Any Aussies on here who recently been through this?

Passport office in Aus couldn’t tell me and I can’t get through to talk to a human at a Thai consulate here. Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're an Australian with a new passport and a valid visa in your old passport, you can enter Thailand by presenting both passports at immigration. Your extension of stay and re-entry permit can be transferred to your new passport at the immigration office after you arrive.

Doesn't matter what your nationality is as it works the same for everyone..

IF you get a new passport while you're out of the country and you have an extension of stay and a re-entry permit in the old passport. You show BOTH passports when you show up at passport control to stamp IN to thailand and they will stamp you in on the new passport until the expiration of your extension.

THEN

You go to the immigration office where you got the extension issued with both passports and they will move the extension and any valid re-entry permit to the new passport for you.
