TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to Thailand with a renewed UK passport, it's essential to present both the new and old passports upon arrival. After arriving, you should visit the immigration office to transfer your visa to the new passport. Take note that the specific requirements may vary by immigration office; for example, if you hold a retirement visa and are at the Bangkok immigration office, they may request financial documents such as a bank book and statement. Some expats have encountered requests for additional documentation, such as a letter from the embassy, although these can sometimes be disputed based on individual experiences.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

Also it depends on what immigration office you will go to if Bangkok and you have a retirement visa they will ask for the bank book and the statement from the bank

I done this with mine in Pattaya. Be careful they might ask for a letter from your embassy but that’s a load of bull. The lady demanding the letter was one of the women who looked like she worked their part time so when the conversation was getting louder one of the official officers came over and told her no. Talk about loss of face. I told her what’s the difference I came in on new passport

After you arrive and present both passports, make sure you go to your immigration office to get your extension moved to your new passport.
