RE: Transfer visa stamp to new passport

Not sure whether here is the right place to ask for this. My passport is going to expired in another 8 months time. i am thinking to return to my home country and renew the passport and return to Thailand with the new passport (the old passport have my valid non b and re-entry permit).

When i return to Thailand, do i just tell the officer that i am entering with new passport with the visa stamp in my old passport and later go to Cheang Wattana to complete the visa stamp transfer?

any advise is greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing your passport in your home country, you can enter Thailand with both your new passport and your old passport that contains the valid Non-B visa and re-entry permit. Upon arrival in Thailand, inform the immigration officer of your situation. After entering, you should visit the immigration office at Cheang Wattana to transfer the visa stamp to your new passport.

If you get a new passport in your country and have a valid Non-B extension re-entry permit in your old passport you show BOTH passports when you stamp back into thailand,

then you take them to the immigration office where you got the extension and get the stamps transferred to the new passport
