Looking to travel to Thailand early December with my Thai wife from uk will get 30 day visa but looking to stay 40 days which is the easiest way to obtain extra 10 days is it possible to active this over Thailand based on marriage to Thai national thanks ?

Beware that you might have a problem with the airline flying to Thailand if you don't have a visa and you don't have a ticket to leave Thailand within the 30 day exempt entry.  You may have to book with a 30 day return and then change the ticket.  A work-around I've used in the past is to buy a refundable ticket that shows me leaving within 30 days to show and then refund later.

there is no 30 day visa. What you're talking about is showing up without buying a visa from a thai consulate in your country before you come but getting stamped in for free for 30 days <- called a 30 day visa exempt entry
