TLDR : Answer Summary
If you enter Thailand on a visa exempt entry, you typically receive a 45-day stamp, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office for a fee of 1900 Thai baht. This would allow you a total stay of up to 75 days, which is sufficient for your planned 54-day stay.

This is a list of common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay.

As you will enter Thailand Visa EXEMPT... you will get 45 days stamp plus one 30 day extension of stay from your local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.. = 75 days stay in Thailand.

Check with your airline..

Ask them if you will need to show PROOF of your flight departing Thailand within the 45 days of your arrival into Thailand.

Usually NO problem with Thai immigration...on ARRIVAL with Visa exempt entry...

same same for land or air entry. Unless you have a recent history of living in Thailand .

As we have reports of DENIED entry by air into Thailand for those who have a recent history of staying in Thailand during COVID-19...

sorry I meant land or air

Land... NOT Myanmar as BORDERS are CLOSED to foreigners entering Thailand from Myanmar.

As for sea entry.. Good question.

What is your plan?

As you are 50+ and you may have plans to ENTER Thailand many times... there's a better choice of Visas for you.

land or sea?

IF you return on or before March 31 2023 you will be stamped in for 45 days plus have One 30 days extension of stay available..

By both Air or Land BORDER entry.

If you have a recent history of staying in Thailand during COVID...then that's a different situation.
