Hey peeps! I just got a new passport that I'll be using to travel outside of Thailand soon. However, my current visa is stamped in my old passport. Do I need to go to IO to have it transferred to my new one, or can I just travel with both of them? Grateful for any input!

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a visa stamped in your old passport and have received a new passport, you have a couple of options. It is advisable to either transfer the visa stamps to your new passport, which requires a letter from your embassy, or you can simply travel with both your old and new passports, presenting them together when you leave Thailand.

IF you're going to leave soon and not need another extension just show both passports when you stamp out.

Just take them both

Yes, you transfer the stamps to your new and valid passport, you also need the letter from your Embassy.

Letter for what? Maybe I wasn't clear, I won't be needing another visa extension before I leave, I already got that covered

I received a new passport, with stamp in New passport that it substitutes the old one incl letter. I didn't do a transfer from passp to passp, but when I was in Malaysia for new visa I just handed them the new and old passp. Saved me time by not going to io.

hi! When you request the new passport the embassy will write a letter for you that asks Thai authorities to kindly transfer the visa stamps. Then you can take an appointment for visa transfer at immigration. You bring there old and new passport, photocopies just to be sure, as well as this letter. In 15 minutes you will get the new passport with all the relevant stamps transferred.

most not really issue it without asking as some embassies charge you for the letter

Every Embassy provide the person with a letter that a genuine new passport is issued to this person to replace the old passport.

I did not talk about any Extension of Stay.
