TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a DTV visa in Thailand, proof of having 500,000 baht is generally required only at the time of application. There are indications that some individuals may be asked for this proof upon re-entry, particularly if applications are made from certain countries' embassies. However, it seems that most cases require this documentation solely during the initial application, not upon re-entry.

Actually it has been noted in another DTV group, that people have been asked for it upon reentry if applications made from certain countries embassies. Along with the documents to support the application too.

Only on application not on re entry

Nope, just for the application. Appears some offices ask for it if you apply in country for an extension too, but not on entry.
