May I know how to cancel DTV visa for wp? Can cancel inside Thailand or need to go out?
Answer summary
To cancel a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand, you typically need to reach out to the embassy that issued your visa. It's generally required to be outside of Thailand to formally cancel the visa, but there are nuances based on individual circumstances. Some users suggest that one can apply for a new visa, which automatically cancels any previous visa held. In cases where visa upgrades are involved, it may be possible to handle the process within Thailand, albeit with potential fees. Contacting the embassy directly is recommended for personalized guidance.

In my case, the embassy in HCMC would not approve my ED Plus visa while my DTV visa was still active. I had to contact the Thai Embassy in Hanoi(visa issued)and cancel my DTV first.
You don’t. At least not yourself. And in almost all cases not at all. Never, until some authority (embassy or immigration) explicitly tells you to. Just change reason of stay in country, in case you are asking switching to work permit or smothering. Don’t let random people here tell you to cancel anything. I doubt you even could. People sometime a suggest to contact the issuing embassy to get it cancelled. But I have yet to hear or a since case of confirmation where this even worked. If any Thai authority wants it cancelled - they do it, not you.
SilverBlueberry2057 I do not know about DTV but that does not apply to all visas. The original must be cancelled first with O for example before applying for a B
Do you have a plan to apply another Thailand visa ?
If yes, you should go out the country first. And then send email to embassy that is issued your dtv visa with the documents that you want to apply another one. The embassy will reply you back the void email. After that you can apply another visa.
Not in all cases. I went from O to B. Had to cancel O and apply for B outside Thailand. This was for a BOI B. The senior level one that pays only 15% flat tax. Company I worked for would not pay agents. All paperwork done in house by HR.
Only ever heard of teachers being able to change in Thailand. I have had B and WP with more than one company. Each time had to leave for B. No agents involved. Do you have personal experience of moving to a B and a WP?
